Have you ever had a craving for a certain food? 

Mmmm, is that rich chocolate cake with butter cream frosting, just calling to you?  And have you ever wondered why you crave the cake at all?  Why you can’t say, “no, I’m not going to eat that cake today”.   

EFT Tapping is the path to freedom from cravings and losing those unwanted pounds that you thought would never go away.


It’s really not about the food.  We keep ourselves in this vicious cycle of thinking we can’t lose weight, yoyo dieting and even negative self-talk because of much deeper issues that we don’t even know we’re carrying around.  Every doubt, every negative thought, every false belief that we have about ourselves carries emotional weight.  This emotional weight keeps us from being able to lose pound after pound.

An EFT Tapping session works to identify the core issue(s) that block us from losing weight.  Once we know what the target issue is, we can zero in and decrease the intensity of emotional charge around the issue.   As the emotional intensity is reduced by Tapping, it becomes clearer and clearer what has been standing in our way. 


In one of my recent EFT workshops with three men and seven women, luscious milk chocolate was given to everyone to hold and smell to see how high their level of craving peaked.  They all said they REALLY wanted to eat the chocolate!  After measuring each person’s intensity on a scale of 0 – 10, of how much they wanted to eat the chocolate, we started the EFT process. 


The process is simple and yet profound.  We Tapped the meridian points on the body, outlined on the Tapping chart, to activate the flow of energy, starting with the set up statement that is repeated three times to establish the Tapping issue.  We then moved to a round of Tapping the meridian points on the face, under the arm and top of the head.  The EFT practitioner says the Tapping words and the participants repeated the words, as in this sample script:


KC Karate Chop:  Even though I REALLY want to eat this chocolate, I deeply and completely love and accept myself, just the way I am.

KC Karate Chop:  Even though I NEED to eat this chocolate, I deeply and completely love and accept myself, just the way I am.

KC Karate Chop:  Even though I want to eat this chocolate right NOW, I deeply and completely love and accept myself, just the way I am.

EB Eyebrow:  I really want this chocolate.

SE Side of Eye:  I need this chocolate now.

UE Under Eye:  I know I’ll feel better if I eat this chocolate. 

UN Under Nose:  I really have to have this chocolate.

CP Chin Point:  Don’t take my chocolate away. 

CB Collar Bone:  This is my chocolate.

UA Under Arm:  I earned this chocolate.

TH Top of Head:  I have to have this chocolate.


After this one Tapping round, everyone took a deep breath and reported how they felt about wanting to eat the chocolate.  Six out of ten people said they didn’t care about eating it at all; their craving was completely gone.   Three people said they could take it or leave it.  The tenth woman said she definitely still wanted to eat it and her level of craving was still a 10.   


During the Tapping process, thoughts often rise to the surface that directly relate to why we feel a certain way.  In this case, she remembered for the first time in years that her Grandmother would always give her chocolate and a big hug at every visit, making her feel so safe and secure.  Her Grandmother had passed on twenty years ago, but she had never been able to replace that feeling of love that she felt from her Grandmother (except with the chocolate.)  She had identified the emotional weight of emptiness in her heart that was keeping her stuck in a cycle of not being able to break free from her chocolate craving.


We continued Tapping for three more rounds on her grief and how it related to the weight loss blocks until she felt as if the emotional weight had been cleared and she didn’t even want the chocolate anymore.  She joined everyone in amazement of how using EFT completely cleared the emotional weight that had been holding her back for twenty years, clearing the path for her physical weight loss to begin with ease and grace.
